Biography

Kellie-Anne Kimber

Adelaide based Sound Designer/Composer/Music Director. Kellie-Anne has studied Music Theatre and a Bachelor of Fine Arts majoring in Interactive Composition at the Victorian College Of The Arts, also completing a Diploma of Music at MWT Institute. They have also completed a one year course in Musical Theatre at Showfit. Other involvements in theatre include accompanist, orchestrator, and sound operator/technician. Kellie-Anne was nominated for Best Music Composition and Sound Design for the 2019 production of Batmania in the 37th Annual Green Room Awards. Kellie-Anne has a strong passion for creating immersive soundscapes and composing jingles that are guaranteed ear worms. Kellie-anne was the winner for the 2023 Broadway World’s Best Musical Direction and Orchestra Performance for Tick… Tick… BOOM! They are also the Composer/Sound Designer for the satirical, dark sketch comedy duo; Hot Department. As of 2023, they have also been Tour Manager and sound/lighting operator for the Umbilical Brothers.

In 2017 Kellie-Anne was the recipient of the Women In Theatre Program presented by Melbourne Theatre Company, one of fourteen women from each department of production, selected as Sound Designer/Composer. They are also a recipient of the Besen Family Artist Program 2019 with Malthouse Theatre for Sound Design.

Sound Design/Composer credits include The Boomkak Panto (Belvoir St), Animal Farm (The Bloomshed), Wet Heat, After Party, Open For Business and Poopie Tum Tums with Hot Department (Junkyard), The Drill (Women’s Circus and Due West Fest), Batmania (The Very Good Looking Initiative), Sneakyville (Before Shot), Twink Ascending (Don't Be Down), Wages Of Fear (Mechanics), Cuckoo's Nest (ATC), and Tropfest finalist 2018 film, PaperCut, directed by Virginia Gay. Observation credits include Vivid White (Melbourne Theatre Company) and Cloudstreet (Malthouse).

Musical Director /Orchestrator credits include Tick… Tick… BOOM! (Preachrs Productions), Sonder: Beyond Blue Charity (Sonder TC), Elegies For Angels, Punks And Raging Queens (Underscore Productions), Spring Awakening (Pep Productions) rehearsal pianist for The Soufflé Sisters and has directed various charity concerts across Melbourne and Victoria.

Operating/sound technician credits include Umbilical Brothers: The Distraction (A List), Garry Starr: Greece Lightning and Performs Everything (MILKE),Trash Talk and Born In A Trunk (Big Hair), Double Denim Adventure Show (Hey Boss), Late’N’Live (Gilded Balloon Presents…), Jordan Gray: Is It A Bird?, Perfect Cult and Teenage Kicks (Stamptown), Kong’s Kings - Drag King Event @ Howler, Worst Little Warehouse In London (Joe C Brown), Father Figure and Twink Ascending (Don’t Be Down), Wages Of Fear (Mechanics) and was a regular venue technician for The Butterfly Club, Melbourne.
